This veteran owned business began in 2007. The goal was to provide a relaxed and safe place for students to learn to ride and they wanted to reach as many people as possible.
The first class was taught in a repurposed school bus in the parking lot of a local middle school. In 2009 land was purchased and a permanent training facility was built in Bucksport, which meant they could offer classes six days a weekend instead of only weekends. Since 2007 the school has grown every year with close to 4000 students receiving their training from A&J so far.
Maine State Licensed Motorcycle Safety Instructors undergo a 9 day rigorous training program that has a fairly high attrition rate. Those same instructors must recertify every 2 years though the Motorcycle Safety Foundation and renew their license from the State of Maine annually. If you added up the total number of A & J instructors riding, it is over 220 years on all types of motorcycles from mini bikes, dirt bikes, sport bikes, dual sports, cafe racers, cruisers, Sport touring, baggers and full dressers.
