I have enjoyed my time at Mountain States Windsor, with Mr. Knight as my teacher. I have learned a lot in a short period of time, and I have retained that information well, due to his teaching. I would recommend this location for Drivers Ed, and for the Driving Test.

**Please read this if you are considering using this school for your child** We recently had the most horrible experience of all times with the Mountain States Driving School in Loveland, CO culminating with the business owner threatening me and putting his finger within half an inch of my face. I take writing reviews for small businesses very seriously. I would never write a negative review for a small business that was unwarranted, untrue or unfair. My child turned 16 yesterday. We actually have twins and they both tested at the location in Loveland. Everything was fine with my son, but when my other child tested, Anthony Smith (owner) gave a failing score. Obviously my child was devastated, but let me be very clear. It was not the failing driver’s test that was the problem. That is why they are tested, to make sure that they are competent to be driving alone in the first place. What concerned me was that my child was so incredibly upset, kept telling me that they received a failing score for going too slow in a residential area (what?!) and that they felt very uncomfortable with the person testing them. I was not there as my husband had taken the kids and he needed to get my other child over to the DMV to make his appointment to get his license. I then reached out to Mountain States via phone and asked to speak with a manager because I had some questions about what had actually happened (at the time, honestly, was really just trying to figure out what needed improvement and if there was anything said or done that could have gone differently to make them feel more comfortable when they test again). Seems pretty cut and dry, right? Keep in mind, Mountain States is where our kids took driver’s ed and did their six hours of driving with, so at this point, we’ve paid them about $1,600. Although they are getting their license, they are still minors and as a parent, I have every right to ask any question I would like to involving my child when they are that upset. When I called the receptionist politely answered and explained that Anthony Smith was manager, owner and tester and that he had taken someone else out to test. She advised that I could send him an email, but that he would not call me back. I literally thought she meant like “he probably won’t get back to you today”, but alas, no. She actually meant he NEVER talks to parents who email him. I was literally dumbfounded. I clarified what she meant more than once and that’s exactly what she meant. Guys, this is the OWNER of a driving school that I would imagine 90% of students are minors, under the age of 18. Again, my child told me that the whole interaction with Anthony Smith made them very uncomfortable, so as a parent, I want to get to the bottom of this. I then did the only thing I could do at that point. I told the receptionist that I was coming down there to talk with him face to face if he wouldn’t connect with me via phone. She said “fine” and hung up. I drive over there, still in complete disbelief that I’m having to actually go to the school to have a conversation with this person. I walk in, tell the receptionist who I am (and yep, I had lost my patience at that point, but did not do anything that would be inappropriate, but I was direct). She then said that Anthony was in the bathroom and I advised I would wait. Five seconds late she said he was actually just in the backroom (hiding I imagine!) I then called his name and asked if he would come out and speak with me (we were the only people in the place and the backroom was right there - he was clearly leaving his poor receptionist out there to deal with an upset parent). Anthony Smith then comes storming out and when I say storming, I mean, I took a couple of steps back. He then begins to yell at me telling me I have “no right to disrupt other people’s day” and at the same time is pointing a finger at me 1/2 and inch from my face. He then told me to “get out and that my child knew why they failed.” If he had come 1/2 an inch closer, this would be a police matter, it was that bad. I am a female, in my 40’s, 5’2 inches tall - Anthony is much bigger and I could not believe what was happening. In all of my years, I have never felt more threatened by a male in any capacity. You better believe I got out of there. I will be posting this experience in every place possible, filing a complaint with the BBB (oh, and be sure to read some of the reviews for his “other” businesses - you’ll see a trend!) and I will be contacting the state regarding how Anthony Smith conducted himself. I have no idea what the process actually is to be licensed to give driving tests, but I want this experience on record. This man is a coward and a bully. Parents, he will not help you, and in fact, if you dare to even ask to speak with him, he’s going to make you feel like you were just assaulted. This could have so easily been resolved with one phone call, but instead he chose to avoid me, get his receptionist to cover for him and then verbally and almost physically attack me (one might even say that based on power dynamics and his stature, he actually did attack me or at least has left a last impression that he did). My child went on to successful pass their driving test today (at the Longmont location which btw, is a great location!) and is now a happy, licensed driver. I wanted to wait for everything to be done before posting to ensure that Anthony Smith could do nothing to jeopardize my child’s license. I am also positive that Anthony will completely disagree about what transpired yesterday. I have zero reason to make this up. My purpose in taking these steps is not because I want to waste my time or cause a small business any unnecessary harm. My sole purpose in posting is for parents to be warned and to call him out for the bully he is. No one should ever tolerate this kind of abuse from someone else, much less someone that you entrusted your child to. Oh and now I also get why my child felt very uncomfortable with him. Sheesh! Anthony, please get some help. You are your own worst enemy - anger management classes are probably in order. If you are going to own a business that involves minors and charge the parents money for that, you need to be willing to interact with them or have someone that will interact with them on your behalf. What happened yesterday is completely unconscionable and I just hope that at least a few potential parents take the time to read this post and avoid your location at all costs.

This class was pretty boring but at the end I learned a lot and glad I took it. It wasn’t as boring as I thought but I’m glad I took it when I did.

I found the class boring and monotone at some parts and fun at others. The content and material can be brutally honest. I would definitely relate more if the videos were more recently made, watching a 1990 psa or incurable commercial isn’t really exciting.
