New York State Permit holders are required to complete a 5-hour driving class. Completion of this mandatory class earns the permit holder a MV-278 (5 hour) certificate. This course is approved by NY State DMV and is required before scheduling a road test. The certificate is valid for one year. You must bring your valid NYS learner's permit to class. The cost of the class is $45.00 but if you register online you are not only guaranteed a seat but you will also save $5.00. You do not need to pay until the day of class.
