This course is required for anyone looking to obtain a New York State Driver’s License, regardless of age. We strive to educate new drivers by promoting safe, courteous, defensive and alcohol/drug-free driving. Program Overview The average driver will drive for 55 years and travel over 1 million miles behind the steering wheel. Most new drivers will not have the opportunity to take professional driving lessons or driver’s education, even though this is the preferred way to learn. New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and Gigliotti's Driving School feel such a venture must start with a 5-hour, pre-licensing course. The student will have the opportunity to ask questions to a professional driving instructor. Each student will learn the basic rules of the road, defensive driving strategies, and other important concepts to carry with them for the next half-century. Students will also have the opportunity to feel what driving under the influence of alcohol feels like with our new .18 BAC goggles, and why drinking and driving is so dangerous.

Lesson Overview Before your loved ones get on the road, trust Gigliotti’s to teach them the rules of the road and how to drive safely. This year alone there will be over 3 million new teenage drivers on the road. This is often their first experience with real world responsibility. Driving is a complex world of social interaction and legal structure mixed with the laws of physics. This along with the need to make rapid and correct decisions makes success on the road a difficult activity for anyone. More than likely you have friends, relatives, or family members who were trained by Gigliotti's. Our goal is to educate drivers with the knowledge to be confident, aware, and defensive. We place value on lifelong driver safety. Our teaching techniques are one of a kind. We instill defensive driving strategies by teaching constant awareness of the drivers surroundings so they can react quickly and appropriately. We teach our students to be aware that their emotions play a big part in everyday driving and how this may affect their driving behavior. We make parallel parking and three point turns simple. A Road Test can be a challenging event. We try to make it less stressful by scheduling the road test for our students and accompanying them on the day of the test. This course offers drivers the opportunity to review current traffic laws while reducing insurance premiums and driver’s license points. Program Overview Defensive Driving is a concept that has been around for many years and has helped many drivers become safer, more proactive motorists. This course encourages drivers to expect the unexpected and take precautions to prevent accidents before they happen. You will receive a 10% or more discount off your collision and liability premiums for three years for all vehicles for which you are listed as the principal operator. You will also receive a reduction of up to 4 points off your driving record which could help you avoid a license suspension.

This class is mandatory for anyone looking to obtain a conditional drivers license after a drinking or drugged driving offense. Program Overview We are proud to be the only driving school in New York State to offer the Impaired Driver Program (IDP). The program includes NYS specific law and traffic safety information along with education through "The Change Companies" curriculum. In addition to classroom education, students are screened and referrals are made, if warranted, for evaluation and treatment. We strive to deliver engaging material and premier driver safety. Enrollment is limited only to those motorists referred to the program by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.
